After suffering a knee injury, Matt found himself struggling with depression and a drug abuse problem. When he real
ized he was spiraling out of contol he made the decision to end his football career at a point when he was at the top of his game. After ten years with the Denver Broncos, Matt Lepsis retired 1n2006.
Matt Lepsis grew up in Frisco, Texas, where he, his wife Shana, and 3 children currenfly reside. Both Matt and Shana attended the University of Colorado whcre he was a tight-end and Shana wzx on the Buffs volleyball
team. Matt graduated from Cu in 19996 with a degree in history. Today he is working on his Masters degree from the Dallas Theological Seminary.
Matt’s athletic career started at Frisco High school where he was All State Offensive and Defensive Line man. Outside of football , Matt was a two time state champion in the discus, ranked second nationally with a throw of 2A4 feet as a high school senior. He played tight end throughout his college career at CU under Coaches McCarurey andNeuheisel.
After tearing his ACL on the opening kickoffof the Senior Bowl, Matt Lepsis went un-drafted in the 1996 NFL draft. He was signed as a free agent by the Denver Broncos and spent his first year on the urjured physically unable to perforrn list. Matt was a member of both the 1997 and 1998 Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos teams. In 1999 he was a starter and held that position until retiring after the 2007 season.
